Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are looking for an experienced Online Store Assistant for a 10-month fixed term parental leave cover commencing in October 2026. This is a fixed-term, full-time role, which supports the Retail Manager and the wider team with the day-to-day operations, development and enhancement of our Online Retail Store.
Our Online Retail Store offers our customers a unique cultural retail experience in an online environment and plays a vital role in generating revenue by selling a wide range of products and artworks that support our collections, special exhibitions and reflect our uniqueness in the world.
The Online Store plays an important role in extending our customer reach, increasing opportunities to share our stories, enhancing our customer experiences, and promoting and developing our brand awareness through online marketing strategies.
This role is responsible for:
Uploading new products, updating content and maintaining accurate online store presentation within Shopify platform.
Photography of products including image post-production.
Maintaining online inventory levels, monitoring product availability, and updating product listings as needed.
Processing, packing and shipping all online store orders.
Assist with development of online marketing campaigns and social media promotions.
Maintaining shipping rates and tariffs within Shopify.
Working collaboratively with internal teams such as Marketing to ensure all requests and online store projects are completed within set deadlines.
Work rostered shifts within the physical store as requested.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ō pūmanawa | What you will bring
At least 2 years of customer-facing Retail service experience and demonstrated knowledge of online retail store platforms. Experience with Shopify is an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques and advantage.
Studio photography skills and Photoshop knowledge.
A passion for Māori and New Zealand arts, crafts, culture and history is preferred.
