Job Description
The Collection Technician, Documentary Heritage - 21st Battalion is responsible for cataloguing the Documentary Heritage component of the 21st Battalion Association (Auckland) gift. This collection consists of archives, photographs, memorabilia and clubroom contents. This project work is offered on a fixed term basis, ideally undertaken full-time over 2.3 months, however there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.
Activities
Catalogue the 21B collection, creating parent and child records as required.
Add relevant Online Cenotaph links where appropriate.
Label material to museum standards.
Arrange re-imaging where required and attach images to each record.
Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will offer:
Some experience working with museum collections is essential
Prior cataloguing experience on collection management systems (Vernon preferred) is highly advantageous
Proficiency in MS Suite, particularly Excel
Experience in the handling of museum objects
Sound research skills, knowledge of online resources
Problem-solving skills, attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to prioritise tasks and work collaboratively
An understanding of the principles and practice of the Treaty of Waitangi
