Mō te tūranga | About the role
You will manage the end‑to‑end Accounts Receivable and banking processes for both Auckland Museum and the Auckland Museum Institute, ensuring customer invoicing, receipting, and debt collection are completed accurately and on time. You’ll take responsibility for maintaining the debtor and banking ledgers, reconciling point‑of‑sale systems, and supporting commercial teams with timely and accurate revenue information.
You will also ensure bank transactions are correctly allocated and reconciled, investigate and resolve banking issues, and support the Museum’s cash handling processes — including cash audits and coordinating replenishment for onsite cash facilities. As part of a collaborative Finance team, you’ll provide backup to the Accounts Payable function and contribute to continuous improvements that strengthen financial processes across the Museum.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ō pūmanawa | What you will bring
Accounts receivable experience - 2+ years in AR/AP, credit control, debt collection, banking, or basic accounting.
Strong reconciliation skills with accuracy, attention to detail, and confidence managing sub‑ledgers and control accounts.
Excellent time‑management and the ability to work to important deadlines in a busy environment.
Customer‑focused communication - clear, approachable, and solutions‑oriented when working with internal teams and external customers.
Proactive problem‑solving and a willingness to take ownership of issues and queries.
Flexibility to support wider finance tasks, including providing backup to Accounts Payable.
Intermediate Excel capability and experience using ERP finance systems (TechOne an advantage).
A positive, can‑do attitude and the ability to stay organised, energetic, and collaborative.
Cultural awareness and a commitment to working in a bicultural and multicultural environment aligned with He Korahi Māori and Teu le Vā.
