Job Description

We’re looking for Research Assistants to join the Museum’s Audience and Impact Research (A&IR) team on a casual basis. This role will see you out in the Museum conducting short, face-to-face interviews with visitors that will help our A&IR team deliver their research and evaluation programme. The role typically involves working a few days per month, primarily onsite at Auckland Museum in Parnell. 

You will bring with you:

  • Experience and confidence in approaching and speaking with members of the public.
  • The ability to engage with a wide variety of people.
  • Highly developed and effective oral and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience and confidence using mobile technology to accurately record information.
  • The flexibility to work several days per month, ideally including weekend work.
  • An awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi and its principles.

Desired Skills and Experience

Also desirable for this role:

  • Experience undertaking market / social research interviews.
  • Experience using digital survey software.
  • An interest in museums / cultural heritage and / or social research.
  • Additional language skills – Te Reo / Samoan / Mandarin particularly advantageous.
