Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the role 

This full time and permanent role works closely with the Head of Development and wider team to drive and grow the Museum’s Trusts and Grants strategy. 

The successful candidate will identify, cultivate, and steward long-term relationships with current and prospective Trusts and grant-making bodies, securing sustainable funding partnerships and increasing revenue to support the Museum’s strategic priorities. 

You will develop compelling, evidence-based funding proposals, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and uphold the highest standards of compliance and accountability with funders. 

Working collaboratively with Development, Finance, and Museum teams, you will help showcase the Museum’s impact and value to Auckland and our communities, driving growth in Trust and Grants income and supporting the Museum’s mission. 
 

Desired Skills and Experience

Ō pūmanawa | What you will bring 

  • Demonstrate success in relationship management, particularly with high-level grant makers, family trusts, and other funding organisations. 

  • Be an effective communicator with strong project management skills, understanding the Trusts and Grants landscape and strengthening internal and external relationships 

  • Prepare and deliver precise, high-level committee and financial reporting to support strong governance and funder confidence.  

  • Plan, develop, and manage the Museum’s Trusts and Grants portfolio; identify, engage, convert, and steward existing and prospective funding partners. 

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments across the Museum to maximise relationships and support engagement with Trusts and grant-making bodies. 

  • Deliver accurate reporting, budgeting, and funder communications, ensuring robust financial monitoring and full compliance with funding obligations 

  • Collaborate across Museum departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of funding projects and ensure their impact is communicated effectively to Trusts and grant-making bodies. This includes developing and delivering compelling content, in-person events, meetings, e-comms, and informing key external relationships. 

  • Conduct regular network engagement opportunities with Trusts and grant-making bodies. Plan and organise cultivation and stewardship events for funders. 

  • As part of managing Trusts and Grants, demonstrate fundraising or relationship management database CRM experience. Tessitura or Raisers Edge experience is helpful but not essential.
