Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are seeking an experienced professional to support copyright compliance and image research ensuring our collections are used legally and ethically across all collecting areas. These services are a vehicle for our collections being used for personal and professional research, publications, exhibitions and community engagement both internally and externally.
The role also supports a wide range of internal functions within the Museum. The service helps facilitate the work of Collections and Research more generally, Marketing and Communications, Digital, Exhibitions, Learning & Public Programs and the Gallery Refreshment program of work.
The Museum is a bicultural workplace and the person in this role will uphold the principles of He Korahi Māori and Teu Le Vā.

To be successful in this role, you will offer the following knowledge, skills, competencies and experience in these areas:
A Tertiary qualification in the fields of Museum Studies, Library and Information management is essential
Māori and Pacific studies or History, or suitable experience in a field relevant to the Museum’s activities is highly advantageous
Proven understanding of the legislative and cultural frameworks pertaining to the release, use and protection of digital content and collection items
Strong knowledge and skills associated with digital collection information and databases
Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori is highly advantageous
Proven frontline customer service skills
Sound research and reference skills are highly advantageous
Ability to build high trust/effective relationships and to work collegially with stakeholders, researchers and members of the public
Understanding processes and structures related to collection management in a museum context
Proven computer efficiency and intermediate experience with research databases
