Job Description
Mō te tūranga | About the role
We seek an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety systems across the Museum. You will foster a proactive and inclusive safety culture, promoting accountability and learning. You will consider the Museum’s unique operational and heritage context while providing expert advice across all Museum functions. This is a full-time and permanent role.

Monitoring, Reporting and Compliance

Desired Skills and Experience
Ō pūmanawa | What you will bring
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience, and be an active member of HASANZ, NZISM or similar
2+ years working experience as a leader in the Health & Safety field, in an operational environment
Detailed knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and particularly Hazardous Substances Regulations 2017
Knowledge of the New Zealand Museum Standards Scheme
Experience in risk assessments and the development and monitoring of risk controls
Knowledge of what good health and safety practices and performance looks like
A good working knowledge of health and safety management systems
Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a cross-department environment
Effective organisational and communication skills
Ability to establish, build and maintain great relationships both internally and externally, establishing trust and credibility
Strong computer skills particularly with the Microsoft Office suite
