Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As Collections Documentation Technician you will be an integral member of the Collections Documentation team, improving and understanding our collections information. We have a full-time but fixed term opportunity, running till late November 2026. In this role you will:

  • ensure museum collections are accounted for and accessible
  • conduct inventory, enhanced cataloguing and, where necessary, audits of collections
  • use paper records to identify and improve the collection information within our collection management system
  • where necessary, create high quality digital images

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Ō pūmanawa | What you will bring

  • Several years’ experience using collection management systems or other databases in a museum context
  • Demonstrated solid understanding of collection management disciplines including documentation and object handling
  • Strong attention to detail is essential
  • Ability to work closely with others but also independently if necessary
