Job Description
The Auckland Museum is seeking an approachable and motivated Visitor Host to help us deliver a world-leading experience. In this front-facing role, you’ll provide outstanding customer service and engage positively with the public, all while ensuring the safety and security of our visitors, staff, and precious collections.

The fundamental part of a Visitor Host is to be the first point of contact for all our visitors to provide a warm welcome and a great visitor experience in keeping with Manaakitanga (respect, humility, kindness and honesty to others) and Kaitiakitanga (guardianship and protection).
Our Visitor Hosts also process of visitor payments including cash handling, EFTPOS, and ticketing.
Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for people who have:
Previous experience in a customer-facing role, or a strong willingness to learn
Provide a warm and engaging welcome to all visitors
Outstanding customer service skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
Respond to visitor inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy
The ability to remain calm under pressure, handling challenging situations with empathy and composure
Strong situational awareness, able to monitor gallery and public spaces to help protect the safety of visitors, staff, and collections
Experience or willingness to carry out security-related tasks, including access control, incident reporting, and active awareness.
Confidence in responding to emergency situations, including evacuation procedures and first response actions to support public safety
Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with an understanding of the diverse communities, protocols, and traditions represented in Auckland
Cash handling experience, with good numeracy skills and attention to detail
