Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an additional Safety and Security Officer to join the team on a full-time and permanent basis. The security shifts are 12 hours in length operating across a 24/7 rotating shift roster, with shifts commencing at 0700 or 1900hrs daily. Security personnel work a frequent 4-on-and-4-off shift pattern. Candidates must therefore have the availability to work across a Monday to Sunday shift pattern, with both day and night shifts.

Reliability is key in this role. Security staff spend a large portion of time manning a high-spec operations control room, in addition to undertaking patrols throughout the Museum, often assisting members of the public within our cultural organisation. The team is looking for a dedicated individual with a positive work ethic, someone who is committed, enjoys teamwork and offers strong time management skills. 

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this full-time role you will ideally offer:

  • Proven competence in the operation of access, security, surveillance and surveillance analytics systems and software, radio and phone operations
  • Demonstrated computer skills – proven competence on Microsoft Office and Windows 365 applications, Outlook and Explorer is essential.  In addition, previous Integriti Access & Security Control Systems, IndigoVision surveillance systems software and analytics, Fire & Environmental Monitoring Control Systems usage and knowledge is a strong advantage.
  • A National Certificate of Competency in Security Operations Levels II, III and IV, or an equivalent recognised qualification is preferred, but not essential  
  • Reliable transportation or the ability to regularly attend 0700 or 1900 shift starts
  • An approachable manner and patience; being helpful and pleasant, a good listener and tolerant of people and processes
  • A reasonable level of fitness consistent with the physical demands of the job
  • Self-motivation and the demonstrated ability to work sole charge on occasions, as well as effectively in a close-knit and fast-paced team
  • A current First Aid Certificate or the ability to successfully pass this course
